Tip of the day: negative searches on eBay

This is extremely useful and a little known feature, so wanted to share

Here's an example:
Searching for a Cougar always returns Panther black cars

Add "-panther" to remove those from the search

And now a clean search result without all the items containing the word "panther"

It's especially useful when you return loads of random stuff in a search, like bulbs when searching for headlights. It also works with Google searches!

It uses standard Boolean operators, I find the brackets are useful too, if you search for X but don't want A,B or C then type X -(A, B, C) into the search bar.

Thank you David and Jon; I've been plagued by the Panther Black stuff for several months now when searching for Cougar parts. (y)

To be honest this isn’t a new thing, you’ve been able to search like this for years. If you google ebay search tips there’s lots if good advice. Searching for mistakes in spelling is quite good sometimes.
