Draining the fuel tank?

Hose pipe down the filler neck wont work due to the anti syphon valve , dont see why doing it via the fuel filter wouldnt work

I've not done this myself but from Paul Shirtyzeus...

Disconnect the fuel filter output and put the hose in a pot. Then lift up the rear seat bolster, strip the leads and apply 12v to the pump with a spare battery via crocodile clips.

Obviously this depends on how much fuel is in there. I managed to drop and re-lift Tiger's tank (when I replaced the filler) when it was around 1/4 full. If you're just scrapping and want to reclaim the fuel, drop the tank and use a funnel. No need to overthink it really.

Problem is though Chris, the tank is full. And as the car is in drivable state I can use the ignition rather than risk an errant spark next to the petrol. Think I will drain via the fuel filter as only a standard 5L Jerry can to store in so multiple refuelling of Gems new car will take place
