[h=2]A new book called “The Cars You Always Promised Yourself” is a 50-year tale of Ford’s design, engineering and marketing.[/h]
It features Fords most memorable European cars, from the Capri and Sierra to the Puma and today’s Focus RS. It’s an insider’s story of how cars are designed, engineered and marketed, told through the lens of the more glamorous coupés and interesting RS cars.

Whilst the Cougar isn't mentioned in this article, those concepts that are, are relevant to the Cougar's existence.

They should team up call it a Forkswagen. Work with Honda and put Spoon engines in them. And name the vehicle after a type of knife

They can do multiple models and call them the cutlery collection

I would love a Thunderbird S/C, maybe as a show car.

But what I'd love even more is a Lincoln MkVIII. That car would suit me to the ground and I would daily the absolute hell out of it. Well, after I replaced the suspension with something a little easier to work on.

In the meantime, Cougars it is.

I know your fleet is currently saturated, and posting this just for information.
I'd still have an SC, but this one is wrong for me for a few reasons.
It's red. Not a deal-breaker but metallics look better.
It's a 1989-1991 model. Improvements made 1991-1993 include full-width LED taillights where this one has reflectors.
Improvements made for the 1994-1995 model include restyled nose and interior; uprated charger (210 to 230); later auto box (on the auto version); and instead of 4 identical alloys, two pairs facing each way.
The SC was deleted for the 1996-1997 years, top model was 4.6L V8 LX.

No, it's the US Ford version of the MkVII Cougar, (the one prior to what we got). MN12 platform with a mid-sized V8. The Lincoln MKVIII is supposedly the same car with different trim, but is on a modified platform (the FN).

It's... complicated.

The Probe was supposed to be a Capri replacement, but it turns out that Americans didn't like the idea of a FWD Mazda as a pony car. Suited us perfectly though of course.

...Is that the yank version of the Probe?
To supplement Chris's summary:
Thunderbird/Cougar rear-wheel-drive, were big enough coupes to seat five adults; Mustang, Probe and FWD Cougar, only seat four.
The bonnet/hood is much longer than what FWD cars have, and they were never hatchbacks.
The US Probe MK1 is similar size to, but much squarer than the Mk2 which came to Europe.

I like how eBay offers "Frequently bought together" suggestions there. Like someone buying a Probe also has a hankering for a Peugeot 207 cabriolet.

I imagine my son is on that list too, plus quite a few others. He's turned out well though as most of them do and even has a PhD. Juvenile curiosity I suppose...

New Escort Mk2 rally cars to be fitted with Duratec 2.5L motors; 200+ bhp.

Wonder if they're new and if so where they come from.
