Caliper recommendations

Hi all

Another request for info if you don't mind please? Any recommendations for standard front calipers to fit a '98 V6? I've had one seize and lock up on me today. Initial investigations show the seal was deteriorated and the piston is corroded. Easier to just replace the unit IMO.

If you fancy going down the "upgrade" route, Mondeo Mk3 calipers/Focus ST170 discs fit on the Cougar with a washer or two as spacers. If you fancy more "oomph", MK1 Focus RS/Fiat Coupe Turbo Brembo calipers will fit if you can get hold of the custom mounting brackets

$1000!!

Id go for any recon ones, Ive found the new ones that ford make are dangerous, the hole for the bottom caliper pin is too wide and can cause the caliper to lift up

Very wise. I've never bought calipers from eBay, only from club members, so I don't have a reliable source.

Guys? Anyone got any standard ones? My two spare sets are Mk3 Mondy...

They were already removed from the car when I had it so no idea of the function of them

Shame you dont need the rears ive got a small collection of those that are known to be good!

Thanks anyway. It's actually only the drivers front that's playing up, but I personally prefer to replace them as a pair. I'll see what my local motor factors can supply though that's probably not much different from eBay.
