Tried to correct typo after posting and it disappeared from view, tried twice more. Hence I imagine duplicated posts.

Yeah the mid 80s aerobird as they were called here. That was the first car I had that I did any serious modifications to. It later turned me on to the world of cougars with an 88. werent bad cars and the first car I ever owned with a sunroof.

Was there a reason you missed the 1989-1997 (sorry, 1989-1993, 1994-1995 and 1996-1997) T-Birds and Cougars ?

The first time I knew I'd seen a Cougar was when I first got my '89 T-Bird and drove it around Lakenheath and Brandon (US Air Force base towns in eastern England) and stopped to look at an '87 Cougar parked on the front drive of a house; an attractive young woman leaned out of an upstairs window and called down with an American drool, "You like my car?"

I don't remember seeing any 2012 Dodge Avengers - that one passed me by; the 1970's Hillman/Chrysler Avenger came in bold colours like yellow and orange, there was a variant called the Tiger which was seriously quick for its time.

They were still European scale, smaller (much) than they had been in the 1970s.
The modular V8 wasn't fitted until the 1994 facelift; 1989 saw only the V6 and V6 supercharged used then the old 5.0 was re-introduced in 1991

Eh. Looks like a Charger with a wisdom tooth infection.

Gimme a '97 Thunderbird Supercoupe and let me go nuts. Then we'll see what's what.

The '96-'97 Tbird (less attractive facelift) was only available with EFI V6 3.8L or V8 4.6L (modular engine);
The SC was discontinued probably to save having to program the ODB-compatible ECU for the only model using that engine variation.
The Lincoln MK8 (MKVIII) coupe got the 32-valve version of the modular 4.6L, and continued in produion into '98 - that's the latest and best of the big coupes although it's not as handsome as the T-Bird.

This!

My Ford list is short because one bridged about 10 years and is still going...

Started out and passed my test with a 999cc Fiesta Bonus, put a conrod through the radiator.

Had a 1.8 Mk6 Scrote Si, put a tree through the bonnet and another through the passenger side. That wouldn't buff out so wound up having some cheap jap mobile until the insurance companies let up on me for a bit.

Went out and bought my still current Capri 2.8 Special, broke the diff pulled it off the road to rebuild.

Bought a 2 litre Ebony Cougar as a 3 door Ford stop gap.

Missus loved it, bought her a 1.7 Puma (she wanted a focus, I wanted a Puma to play with)

Bought another Puma to loan to a friend who then gave it back to me after a year or so.

Broke the Ebony Cougar, bought a mk6 swb transit, Capri still not done due to time..

Missed the Cougar, bought a V6 Frosty. Dropped the pumas.

Now down to a more reasonable fleet of 3 Fords (from 6) and her MK1 Focus. Onstreet only parking at the new place. Neighbours love it... Honest! They ring the city council regularly to wax lyrical about how their neighbour has filled the street with cars. First name terms with the abandoned vehicle staff now. We have a regular catch up, chat cars, etc.

Found the photos at long last.
This was the Mk1 Mondeo V6 Ghia we owned before the Cougar. We bought it in 2001 with the mods already done by the previous owner and kept it until 2005. The only thing we changed about it were the alloys but have no pictures of them. Being completely soppy I still miss this car and wish we hadn't parted with it. Although I don't miss avoiding speed humps :)

Nice, the MK1 looked so much better with the "Morette"(?) headlights fitted (y)
